Key highlights
The global RF Amplifier Market is projected to reach USD 25.70 billion by 2036, as defense radar, satellite communications and automotive radar replace handsets as the sources of growth in a market whose largest application has stopped expanding.
The Western supplier base has consolidated. Skyworks Solutions and Qorvo announced a cash-and-stock combination on October 28, 2025 valuing the enterprise at approximately USD 22 billion, with each Qorvo share converting into USD 32.50 in cash plus 0.960 of a Skyworks share, pro forma revenue of approximately USD 7.7 billion, adjusted EBITDA of approximately USD 2.1 billion, a USD 5.1 billion Mobile business and a USD 2.6 billion Broad Markets platform. The merger closed on or about October 5, 2026.
The merging parties were both contracting. Skyworks reported fiscal 2025 net revenue of USD 4,086.9 million against USD 4,178.0 million in fiscal 2024, with Broad Markets representing 39% of sales and Mobile guided to decline by low to mid-teens percentages sequentially in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. Qorvo reported fiscal 2026 revenue of USD 3,678.5 million against USD 3,718.97 million in fiscal 2025, with fourth-quarter Advanced Cellular Group revenue down 11.7% to USD 512.3 million.
By amplifier type, Power Amplifiers are expected to account for the largest market share in 2026, whereas Beamformer ICs are projected to witness the fastest growth through 2036.
Defense and satellite demand is where the product cycle is active. Qorvo announced C-band radar front ends at European Microwave Week on October 2, 2026, including the QPA0018, a 200-watt two-stage gallium nitride monolithic microwave integrated circuit covering 5.2 to 5.9 GHz with more than 20 dB gain and more than 50% efficiency, and the QPA2311, a 50-watt gallium nitride amplifier with power-added efficiency above 55% across 5 to 6 GHz.
Asia-Pacific is expected to account for the largest market share in 2026, whereas North America is projected to register the fastest growth through 2036.
Specialist suppliers serving defense and data infrastructure are outgrowing the mobile incumbents. MACOM Technology Solutions reported fiscal 2025 revenue of USD 967.3 million, up 32.6% from USD 729.6 million, with an adjusted gross margin of 57.4% and fourth-quarter revenue of USD 261.2 million, up 30.1%. Analog Devices reported fiscal 2025 Communications revenue of USD 1,377.9 million, up 26%, with fourth-quarter Communications revenue up 37%.
Infrastructure demand is in a trough between standards generations. The Third Generation Partnership Project describes Release 20 as the final fifth-generation-advanced-only release, with 126 work items and 74 study items underway as of March 2026, Stage 2 architecture freeze in September 2026 and Stage 3 protocol detail targeted for March 2027, while normative sixth-generation work falls to Release 21 against an ITU target of early 2029 for IMT-2030 technology proposals.
Mobile radio frequency content remains the largest pool despite flat units. Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 revenues of USD 44,141 million, up 13%, with QCT revenue of USD 38,367 million, up 16%, of which handsets accounted for USD 27,793 million, up 12%, automotive USD 3,957 million, up 36%, and Internet of Things USD 6,617 million, up 22%.
Growing adoption of gallium nitride on silicon carbide, multi-channel beamformer integrated circuits, Doherty and envelope-tracking architectures, bulk acoustic wave filtering integrated into radar front ends, and gallium nitride at power levels above 100 watts is transforming radio frequency amplifier design.
Increasing investment in active electronically scanned array radar, low Earth orbit satellite constellations, direct-to-device service, automotive imaging radar and radio frequency energy applications is expected to create significant long-term growth opportunities.

Report overview
Segments covered: amplifier type, semiconductor technology, frequency range, power output, operating architecture, application, end-use industry, sales channel.
The growth of this market is mainly driven by the conversion of defense radar and electronic warfare systems to gallium nitride, the deployment of satellite constellations and phased-array terminals, rising radio frequency content per device from band proliferation and carrier aggregation, the expansion of automotive radar and in-vehicle connectivity, and efficiency requirements that are changing amplifier architecture. However, saturated smartphone volumes and pricing pressure in the largest application, wireless infrastructure spending past the fifth-generation peak with sixth-generation silicon demand arriving beyond the forecast midpoint, the integration of discrete amplifiers into front-end modules and transceiver system-on-chip devices, and domestic substitution and price competition in China restrain the growth of this market.
Furthermore, direct-to-device satellite service, the displacement of laterally diffused metal-oxide semiconductor and gallium arsenide devices by gallium nitride at higher power levels, radio frequency energy in industrial, medical and scientific applications, and millimetre-wave backhaul and fixed wireless access are expected to create significant growth opportunities for the stakeholders in this market.
The RF Amplifier Market comprises the semiconductor devices and modules that amplify radio frequency signals between approximately 30 MHz and 110 GHz. The scope covers power amplifiers across handset, infrastructure, radar, satellite, broadcast and industrial applications, low-noise amplifiers, driver and gain-block amplifiers, variable gain amplifiers, distributed and line amplifiers for cable networks, and the multi-channel beamformer integrated circuits whose value lies in their amplifier chains, supplied as discrete transistors, monolithic microwave integrated circuits, modules, pallet assemblies and the amplifier content within integrated front-end modules. The ecosystem spans compound semiconductor substrate and epitaxial wafer suppliers, pure-play and captive foundries, device designers, packaging subcontractors, catalogue distributors, and the handset, infrastructure, defense, satellite, automotive, industrial and instrumentation customers that design them in.
Several adjacent categories sit outside this market. Switches, acoustic filters, duplexers, tuners, phase shifters and antennas sold as standalone components are excluded, with only the amplifier content of an integrated front-end module counted. Transceivers, modems and baseband processors are excluded, as are vacuum electron devices including travelling-wave tube and klystron amplifiers, which form a separate high-power technology. Optical driver amplifiers and transimpedance amplifiers used in optical transceivers are optical components rather than radio frequency devices. Audio amplifiers, operational amplifiers and intermediate-frequency amplifiers are also excluded.
The defining event of the past year is the consolidation of the Western supplier base, and it reflects pressure rather than confidence. Skyworks Solutions and Qorvo announced a cash-and-stock combination on October 28, 2025, valuing the enterprise at approximately USD 22 billion, with each Qorvo share converting into USD 32.50 in cash plus 0.960 of a Skyworks common share. The companies cited pro forma revenue of approximately USD 7.7 billion, adjusted EBITDA of approximately USD 2.1 billion, a USD 5.1 billion Mobile business, a USD 2.6 billion Broad Markets platform targeting defense and aerospace, edge Internet of Things, artificial intelligence data centre and automotive applications, approximately 8,000 engineers and more than 12,000 issued and pending patents. Skyworks shareholders hold approximately 63% and Qorvo shareholders approximately 37%, with annual cost synergies of USD 500 million or more expected within 24 to 36 months and Phil Brace as chief executive. Starboard Value, holding approximately 8% of Qorvo, signed a supporting voting agreement. Regulatory clearance completed and the transaction closed on or about October 5, 2026, ahead of the early 2027 timetable first announced.
The financial position of both parties explains the logic. Skyworks reported fiscal 2025 net revenue of USD 4,086.9 million against USD 4,178.0 million in fiscal 2024, with a non-GAAP gross margin of 46.7%. First-quarter fiscal 2026 guidance of USD 975 million to USD 1,025 million carried an expectation that Mobile would decline by low to mid-teens percentages sequentially while Broad Markets would rise slightly, at 39% of sales. Qorvo reported fiscal 2026 revenue of USD 3,678.5 million against USD 3,718.97 million, with fourth-quarter revenue of USD 808.3 million, down 7.0%, Advanced Cellular Group revenue of USD 512.3 million, down 11.7%, High Performance Analog revenue of USD 202.7 million, up 7.9% at a 34.7% operating margin, and Connectivity and Sensors Group revenue of USD 93.3 million, down 7.9%. Two companies whose mobile businesses were shrinking combined to defend margin and factory utilisation.
Mobile remains the largest application by a wide margin, and its stagnation is the principal constraint on this market. Handset radio frequency content per device has risen steadily with band count, carrier aggregation and multiple-input multiple-output configurations, but unit volumes are saturated and the largest customers hold enough scale to dictate price or design content in-house. Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 QCT handset revenue of USD 27,793 million, up 12%, within QCT revenue of USD 38,367 million, up 16%, so handset semiconductor value overall is still growing while the amplifier specialists supplying the same sockets reported declines. Value is migrating toward integrated platforms and away from discrete radio frequency content.
Wireless infrastructure, historically the second-largest application, sits in a trough between standards generations. The Third Generation Partnership Project describes Release 20 as the final fifth-generation-advanced-only release, covering energy efficiency, machine learning, satellite and non-terrestrial network integration, mobility, coverage, public safety, and joint sensing and communication, with 126 work items and 74 study items underway as of March 2026. Stage 1 service requirements froze in June 2025, Stage 2 architecture was scheduled to freeze in September 2026, Stage 3 protocol detail is targeted for March 2027 and the ASN.1 and OpenAPI freeze for June 2027. Normative sixth-generation work falls to Release 21, against an ITU target of early 2029 for IMT-2030 technology proposals and full specifications by mid-2030 at the latest. For amplifier suppliers this means base station radio frequency power demand has no new standards-driven cycle until the back third of the forecast period.
Growth has therefore moved to defense, satellite and automotive, and the product cycle in those applications is visibly active. Qorvo announced C-band radar front ends at European Microwave Week on October 2, 2026, comprising the QPB1055, a seven-channel bulk acoustic wave filter bank across 5.2 to 5.9 GHz with 40 dBc close-in rejection and 480 nanosecond switching, the QPA2311, a 50-watt gallium nitride amplifier with power-added efficiency above 55% across 5 to 6 GHz, and the QPA0018, a 200-watt two-stage gallium nitride monolithic microwave integrated circuit with more than 20 dB gain and more than 50% efficiency. On October 7, 2026 it announced an X-band active electronically scanned array front end built around the QPX0252, a four-channel beamformer covering 7.9 to 12 GHz with sub-100 nanosecond transmit and receive switching that drives front-end modules directly and eliminates external driver amplifiers.
Supplier results confirm where the demand is. MACOM Technology Solutions, which serves industrial and defense, data centre and telecommunications markets, reported fiscal 2025 revenue of USD 967.3 million, up 32.6% from USD 729.6 million, with an adjusted gross margin of 57.4%, fourth-quarter revenue of USD 261.2 million, up 30.1%, and guided first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue to USD 265 million to USD 273 million. Analog Devices reported fiscal 2025 Communications revenue of USD 1,377.9 million, up 26%, with fourth-quarter Communications revenue of USD 389.8 million, up 37%, within total revenue of USD 11,020 million, up 17%, at a 61.5% gross margin. The contrast between suppliers growing 26% to 33% in defense, satellite and infrastructure analogue and suppliers declining in mobile defines the current structure of this market.
Semiconductor technology choice follows power and frequency. Gallium arsenide holds the largest share by unit volume because it dominates handset power amplifiers and low-noise amplifiers, where cost per function and linearity at low power determine selection. Gallium nitride, principally on silicon carbide substrates, is now standard where output power, efficiency and power density matter, covering radar transmit modules, satellite high-power amplifiers and the upper tier of base station radio frequency power. The Qorvo devices announced in October 2026 show the current performance envelope, with a 200-watt two-stage monolithic microwave integrated circuit achieving more than 50% efficiency across a 700 MHz band. Laterally diffused metal-oxide semiconductor devices retain the installed base in sub-3 GHz infrastructure and broadcast, silicon germanium and silicon-on-insulator processes serve integrated and low-cost functions, and indium phosphide serves the highest frequencies.
Supply of compound semiconductor material has been disrupted. Wolfspeed, a principal silicon carbide substrate supplier and formerly a radio frequency device supplier before divesting that business, completed a financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 protection in September 2025. Substrate and epitaxial capacity for silicon carbide and gallium arsenide is concentrated among a small number of suppliers, as is pure-play compound semiconductor foundry capacity, so amplifier suppliers carry upstream exposure that silicon designers do not. Defense qualification and export controls add a second constraint, because devices qualified for radar and space applications cannot be sourced interchangeably and the suppliers able to serve those programmes form a restricted set.
Satellite communications has become the fastest-growing application because the unit count is rising faster than in any other segment. Each satellite payload and each phased-array user terminal carries beamformer, driver and power amplifier content, and the migration from mechanically steered dishes to electronically steered flat panels multiplies the amplifier count per terminal by the number of array elements. Direct-to-device service, in which standard handsets connect to satellites, adds payload content and a new requirement in the handset front end. The Third Generation Partnership Project has brought satellite and non-terrestrial network integration into the fifth-generation architecture within Release 20, placing this traffic inside the same standards framework as terrestrial cellular.
Over the forecast period, market value is expected to grow from USD 12.70 billion in 2026 to USD 25.70 billion in 2036. Growth is led by gallium nitride conversion in defense radar, satellite constellation and terminal deployment, automotive radar, and efficiency requirements driving architecture change, with sixth-generation infrastructure demand arriving late in the period. It is moderated by saturated smartphone volumes, infrastructure spending past the fifth-generation peak, integration into modules and system-on-chip devices, and domestic substitution in China. The resulting CAGR of 7.3% reflects a market whose growth applications are expanding quickly from a smaller base while its largest application has stopped contributing.
Market dynamics
21 factors across 5 forcesGallium Nitride Conversion in Defense Radar and Electronic Warfare
The replacement of legacy transmit technologies with gallium nitride in active electronically scanned array radar is the principal factor driving the RF Amplifier Market, because it raises both the amplifier content per system and the value of each device. Qorvo announced C-band radar front ends at European Microwave Week on October 2, 2026 including the QPA0018, a 200-watt two-stage gallium nitride monolithic microwave integrated circuit covering 5.2 to 5.9 GHz with more than 20 dB gain and more than 50% efficiency, and the QPA2311, a 50-watt gallium nitride amplifier with power-added efficiency above 55% across 5 to 6 GHz, alongside the QPB1055 seven-channel bulk acoustic wave filter bank with 40 dBc close-in rejection and 480 nanosecond switching. On October 7, 2026 the company announced an X-band front end built on the QPX0252, a four-channel beamformer covering 7.9 to 12 GHz with sub-100 nanosecond transmit and receive switching. Qorvo reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 High Performance Analog revenue of USD 202.7 million, up 7.9%, at a 34.7% operating margin, the only segment of the three to grow.
Satellite Constellation and Phased-Array Terminal Deployment
Satellite communications is adding amplifier content faster than any other application because both payloads and user terminals are multiplying and each has moved to electronically steered arrays. A mechanically steered dish required one high-power amplifier chain, while a flat-panel phased array requires a beamformer and driver stage for every group of radiating elements, so the amplifier count per terminal rises with array size rather than with terminal count alone. Qorvo introduced a time-division-duplex beamformer integrated circuit for compact Ku-band satellite communications terminals during fiscal 2026 and has extended its Ku-band beamformer portfolio for high-performance terminals. The Third Generation Partnership Project brought satellite and non-terrestrial network integration into the fifth-generation architecture within Release 20 alongside 126 work items and 74 study items underway as of March 2026, which places this traffic inside the same standards framework as terrestrial cellular and extends the addressable requirement into handset front ends through direct-to-device service.
Rising Radio Frequency Content per Device from Band Proliferation
Although smartphone unit volumes are saturated, the radio frequency content each device carries continues to rise, which partially offsets flat units. Band count, carrier aggregation combinations, multiple-input multiple-output configurations, Wi-Fi 7 and ultra-wideband each add transmit and receive paths, and every added path requires amplification. Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 revenues of USD 44,141 million, up 13%, with QCT revenue of USD 38,367 million, up 16%, of which handsets accounted for USD 27,793 million, up 12%, which shows handset semiconductor value still expanding. Skyworks noted in its first-quarter fiscal 2026 guidance of USD 975 million to USD 1,025 million that Broad Markets would represent 39% of sales and rise by mid to high single digits year on year, while Mobile would decline by low to mid-teens percentages sequentially. Content growth is therefore real but is being captured increasingly by integrated platforms rather than by discrete amplifier suppliers.
Automotive Radar and In-Vehicle Connectivity
Vehicles have become multi-radio platforms, and each radio requires amplification. Automotive radar at 76 to 81 GHz has moved from a single forward-looking sensor on premium models toward corner and imaging radars across mainstream segments, with each sensor carrying transmit power amplifiers and low-noise receive stages, while telematics, cellular vehicle-to-everything, satellite radio, Wi-Fi, ultra-wideband and keyless entry each add front-end content. Supplier results reflect the trend, with Qualcomm reporting fiscal 2025 QCT automotive revenue of USD 3,957 million, up 36%, the fastest-growing of its three QCT categories, and fourth-quarter automotive revenue of USD 1,053 million, up 17%. Analog Devices reported fiscal 2025 automotive revenue of USD 3,277.9 million, up 16%, at 30% of total revenue of USD 11,020 million. The combined Skyworks and Qorvo Broad Markets platform explicitly targets automotive among its four priority end markets.
Efficiency Requirements Driving Architecture Change
Power consumption has become the constraint that dictates amplifier selection, which drives migration to higher-efficiency devices and architectures and supports price realisation. In radar and satellite applications the direct-current power budget and the thermal envelope of a phased-array panel limit how much transmit power a system can carry, which is why efficiency figures appear in product specifications alongside output power. Qorvo quantified this with the QPA2311 at above 55% power-added efficiency across 5 to 6 GHz and the QPA0018 at more than 50% efficiency across 5.2 to 5.9 GHz at 200 watts, and its vice president of defense and aerospace products described the benefit as higher transmit power without growing the direct-current power budget. In infrastructure, Doherty architectures and digital pre-distortion raise average efficiency across modulated waveforms, and in handsets envelope tracking does the same. Release 20 of the fifth-generation specification lists energy efficiency and sustainability among its principal work areas.

Geographic analysis
Asia-Pacific
Largest shareIn 2026, Asia-Pacific is expected to account for the largest share of the global RF Amplifier Market. The region's dominance is supported by the concentration of handset and consumer device assembly in China, India and Vietnam, the scale of Chinese network equipment manufacture, the presence of Japanese and Korean device suppliers, and Taiwanese compound semiconductor foundry capacity that fabricates a large share of gallium arsenide amplifier volume. Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 QCT handset revenue of USD 27,793 million, up 12%, the overwhelming majority of which is consumed by devices assembled in the region. Chinese domestic amplifier suppliers have taken share at the low and mid tiers of handset, Wi-Fi and Internet of Things front ends, which raises regional consumption while lowering supplier pricing. Japan contributes handset and infrastructure device suppliers alongside substrate and materials capability, South Korea combines handset manufacture with device supply, and India is expanding both assembly and domestic design. The constraint on regional value is price rather than volume, because the share shift toward domestic suppliers lowers the revenue captured per unit shipped. Asia-Pacific
North America
Fastest growthHowever, North America is projected to register the highest CAGR during the forecast period. Growth across the region is driven by defense radar and electronic warfare modernisation, satellite constellation and terminal deployment, and the concentration of the leading amplifier suppliers and their design activity. Skyworks Solutions and Qorvo completed their approximately USD 22 billion combination on or about October 5, 2026, creating an entity with pro forma revenue of approximately USD 7.7 billion, a USD 2.6 billion Broad Markets platform targeting defense and aerospace, edge Internet of Things, artificial intelligence data centre and automotive applications, and approximately 8,000 engineers, having cited stronger United States manufacturing among the stated reasons for combining. MACOM Technology Solutions reported fiscal 2025 revenue of USD 967.3 million, up 32.6%, at a 57.4% adjusted gross margin, and Analog Devices reported fiscal 2025 Communications revenue of USD 1,377.9 million, up 26%, with fourth-quarter Communications revenue up 37%. The United States accounts for the substantial majority of regional value, with Canada contributing a smaller defense and satellite supply base. Mexico is the largest national market by manufacturing consumption, combining automotive production with contract electronics assembly, and Brazil is the largest by network and satellite demand, supported by its own defense radar and aerospace programmes. The principal constraints are the absence of domestic compound semiconductor device manufacture, which makes the region a consumer rather than a supplier, currency exposure on components priced in United States dollars, and operator capital expenditure discipline that limits infrastructure amplifier demand. North America
Europe
Europe is expected to account for the third-largest share of the global RF Amplifier Market in 2026. The position of the region reflects a strong device supply base alongside substantial defense radar and automotive demand. European semiconductor companies supply radio frequency power for infrastructure and broadcast, automotive radar front ends and general-purpose amplifiers, with radio frequency power operations concentrated in the Netherlands and Germany. Defense demand is supported by radar and electronic warfare programmes across France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden and Spain, and by rising national defense budgets, while automotive radar demand follows the vehicle manufacturing base in Germany, France and Central Europe. The region also hosts European Microwave Week, at which Qorvo announced its C-band radar front ends on October 2, 2026, including the 200-watt QPA0018 gallium nitride monolithic microwave integrated circuit. Constraints are the limited scale of European handset manufacture, which removes the largest application from regional consumption, and dependence on compound semiconductor foundry capacity located elsewhere. Latin America
Latin America accounts for a smaller share of the global RF Amplifier Market, with demand concentrated in Brazil and Mexico. Growth is driven by mobile network investment extending coverage and capacity across large and unevenly served territories, by satellite communications demand where terrestrial infrastructure is uneconomic across the Amazon basin and the interior of the continent, and by electronics manufacturing in Mexico that serves North American supply chains in automotive and consumer devices. Latin America is estimated to account for approximately 4.0% of the USD 12.70 billion global market in 2026. Latin America
Middle East & Africa
The Middle East and Africa region accounts for a small share of the global RF Amplifier Market, with a pronounced difference between Gulf defense and infrastructure programmes and earlier-stage activity elsewhere. Gulf Cooperation Council states, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, are investing substantially in air defense radar, electronic warfare, surveillance and satellite capability under national security and diversification programmes, and these are amplifier-intensive systems procured at premium specification. Israel contributes a dense radar, electronic warfare and satellite payload design base and is a net exporter of such systems rather than only a consumer. Across Africa, demand is concentrated in South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya and Morocco, where mobile network expansion and satellite backhaul generate amplifier consumption, while fibre scarcity makes satellite and microwave transport comparatively more important than elsewhere. Growth depends principally on Gulf defense procurement and on mobile and satellite network build-out across the larger African markets. The Middle East and Africa is estimated to account for approximately 4.0% of the USD 12.70 billion global market in 2026. Middle East & Africa
Competitive landscape
The global RF Amplifier Market has just consolidated at the top and remains fragmented below, with the structure now defined by whether a supplier carries mobile exposure. Market participants compete primarily on output power and efficiency at the target frequency, linearity, breadth of process technology across gallium arsenide, gallium nitride, silicon germanium and silicon processes, integration of amplifier with filter and control functions, access to secured substrate and foundry capacity, defense and space qualification status, and price. The combination of Skyworks Solutions and Qorvo, completed on or about October 5, 2026, created the largest Western radio frequency specialist with pro forma revenue of approximately USD 7.7 billion. Broadcom holds substantial wireless front-end content, Qualcomm supplies radio frequency front ends alongside its platforms, and Analog Devices, MACOM Technology Solutions, NXP Semiconductors, Infineon Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Microchip Technology, Ampleon, Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations, Mitsubishi Electric, Murata Manufacturing, Mini-Circuits, Teledyne e2v and Guerrilla RF hold defined positions across infrastructure, defense, satellite, instrumentation and industrial applications.
Reported results show how differently the mobile and broad-market positions are performing. Skyworks reported fiscal 2025 net revenue of USD 4,086.9 million against USD 4,178.0 million in fiscal 2024, with a GAAP gross margin of 41.2% and a non-GAAP gross margin of 46.7%, fourth-quarter revenue of USD 1,100.2 million against USD 1,024.9 million, and first-quarter fiscal 2026 guidance of USD 975 million to USD 1,025 million with non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 1.40 at the midpoint, Mobile declining by low to mid-teens percentages sequentially and Broad Markets at 39% of sales. Qorvo reported fiscal 2026 revenue of USD 3,678.5 million against USD 3,718.97 million, with fourth-quarter revenue of USD 808.3 million, down 7.0%, GAAP gross margin of 48.9% against 42.2%, non-GAAP gross margin of 52.6% against 45.9%, non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 1.69, and segment revenue of USD 512.3 million for Advanced Cellular Group, down 11.7%, USD 202.7 million for High Performance Analog, up 7.9%, and USD 93.3 million for Connectivity and Sensors Group, down 7.9%.
Suppliers without mobile exposure grew strongly over the same period. MACOM Technology Solutions reported fiscal 2025 revenue of USD 967.3 million, up 32.6% from USD 729.6 million, with a GAAP gross margin of 54.7% and an adjusted gross margin of 57.4%, fourth-quarter revenue of USD 261.2 million, up 30.1% year on year and 3.6% sequentially, and guided first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue to USD 265 million to USD 273 million with an adjusted gross margin of 56.5% to 58.5% and adjusted diluted earnings per share of USD 0.98 to USD 1.02. Analog Devices reported fiscal 2025 revenue of USD 11,020 million, up 17%, at a 61.5% gross margin, with Communications revenue of USD 1,377.9 million, up 26%, Industrial revenue of USD 4,929.4 million, up 15%, Automotive revenue of USD 3,277.9 million, up 16%, and fourth-quarter Communications revenue of USD 389.8 million, up 37%. Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 revenues of USD 44,141 million, up 13%, with QCT revenue of USD 38,367 million, up 16%, and Broadcom reported fiscal 2025 semiconductor solutions revenue of USD 36,858 million, up 22%.
Strategic activity concentrates on four areas. The first is consolidation, with Skyworks and Qorvo announcing their combination on October 28, 2025 at approximately USD 22 billion in enterprise value, funded with cash on hand and debt commitments from Goldman Sachs Bank USA, targeting cost synergies of USD 500 million or more within 24 to 36 months, with Starboard Value holding approximately 8% of Qorvo and signing a supporting voting agreement, clearing all regulatory approvals by approximately October 1, 2026 and closing on or about October 5, 2026. The second is integrated front-end development for defense, with Qorvo announcing C-band radar front ends combining bulk acoustic wave filtering with 50-watt and 200-watt gallium nitride amplifiers on October 2, 2026 and an X-band active electronically scanned array front end built on the QPX0252 four-channel beamformer on October 7, 2026. The third is satellite terminal content, with Qorvo introducing time-division-duplex and next-generation Ku-band beamformer integrated circuits for compact and high-performance satellite communications terminals. The fourth is supply chain repair, with Wolfspeed completing a financial restructuring and emerging from Chapter 11 protection in September 2025.
Portfolio positioning has shifted toward non-mobile demand right across the industry. The merged Skyworks and Qorvo entity defined a USD 2.6 billion Broad Markets platform against a USD 5.1 billion Mobile business and named defense and aerospace, edge Internet of Things, artificial intelligence data centre and automotive as its priority end markets, supported by approximately 8,000 engineers and more than 12,000 issued and pending patents, with an 11-member board holding eight Skyworks and three Qorvo directors and Phil Brace as chief executive. Qorvo discontinued earnings calls and forward-looking guidance pending the transaction while its chief executive indicated fiscal 2027 expectations of non-GAAP gross margin above 50% and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share approaching USD 7.00. Qualcomm guided first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenues to USD 11.8 billion to USD 12.6 billion with QCT revenue of USD 10.3 billion to USD 10.9 billion, and Broadcom guided first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue to approximately USD 19.1 billion, up 28%.
Expert perspectives
The RF Amplifier Market is being reshaped by the stagnation of its largest application rather than by the growth of its newest ones, and the clearest evidence is the behaviour of the leading suppliers. Skyworks revenue fell from USD 4,178.0 million in fiscal 2024 to USD 4,086.9 million in fiscal 2025, Qorvo revenue fell from USD 3,718.97 million to USD 3,678.5 million with fourth-quarter Advanced Cellular Group revenue down 11.7%, and the two then combined at approximately USD 22 billion in enterprise value with USD 500 million or more of targeted cost synergies, closing on or about October 5, 2026. Companies do not merge two shrinking businesses to pursue growth; they do it to defend margin and factory utilisation. Meanwhile MACOM Technology Solutions, carrying no mobile exposure, grew 32.6% to USD 967.3 million at a 57.4% adjusted gross margin, and Analog Devices grew Communications revenue 26% to USD 1,377.9 million. The market is not shrinking, but its composition is changing faster than its size.
Three factors are expected to shape this market through 2036. First, the infrastructure cycle will not help in the near term. The Third Generation Partnership Project describes Release 20 as the final fifth-generation-advanced-only release, with Stage 2 architecture freezing in September 2026 and Stage 3 in March 2027, while normative sixth-generation work falls to Release 21 against an ITU target of early 2029 for IMT-2030 proposals and specifications by mid-2030. Equipment follows specification by a further interval, so base station amplifier volumes inflect only in the back third of the forecast. Second, defense and satellite demand is real and currently priced at a premium, evidenced by Qorvo High Performance Analog at a 34.7% operating margin against a negative 7.4% margin in Connectivity and Sensors, and by the pace of product introduction, with C-band and X-band front ends announced five days apart in October 2026. Third, integration keeps transferring value from amplifier suppliers to system integrators, which is visible in Qorvo describing its own beamformer as reducing radio frequency content inside the array lattice.
For companies planning entry or expansion, the most attractive positions over the forecast period are likely to be found in gallium nitride at power levels above 100 watts, where Qorvo demonstrated 200 watts at more than 50% efficiency and where vacuum devices are still being displaced; in multi-channel beamformer integrated circuits, which capture a larger share of a smaller per-element bill of materials in radar and satellite arrays; in satellite terminal and payload content, where unit counts grow faster than in any other application; in radio frequency energy for semiconductor fabrication, industrial processing and medical equipment, where the comparison is against a magnetron rather than another amplifier; and in secured compound semiconductor substrate and foundry supply, which the Wolfspeed restructuring showed to be a genuine constraint. The principal risks are further handset revenue decline in the largest application, Chinese domestic substitution lowering price, continued integration absorbing discrete amplifier content, the length of the interval before sixth-generation infrastructure demand arrives, and substrate or foundry disruption in a supply base concentrated among few producers.
