AI Use Policy for Clients

How licensed Meticulous Research reports may be used with generative AI tools. Secure internal use is permitted, and limited sharing of AI-generated insights with your customers is permitted within set limits. Training AI models, using public AI tools and redistributing licensed content are not.

1. Purpose and Scope

1.1This policy sets out how clients who license reports from Meticulous Research (the “Company”) may use them with generative artificial intelligence tools, and the conditions that apply. It applies to every Licensee, whether the content was purchased directly from the Company or through an authorised Distributor, and forms part of the licence terms issued with every purchase.

1.2Secure internal use of Licensed Content with AI Tools is permitted. Limited sharing of AI-generated insights with the customers of a Licensee is permitted within the limits of clause 5. Training AI models, using public AI Tools and redistributing Licensed Content are not permitted.

4.1An Authorised User may upload Licensed Content to an AI Tool inside a Secure Enterprise Environment to summarise, translate, compare, extract themes, answer questions or support analysis for internal business purposes. This applies to every licence type.

4.2The licence type determines who may use the content and how widely it may be held internally:

Multi UserUp to the number of seats purchasedShared workspace limited to the licensed seats
Corporate or SiteEmployees of the licensed entity and named affiliatesInternal knowledge base permitted, with access limited to employees

4.3Derived Outputs may be used in internal presentations, memos, board papers and decision support documents, provided the source is acknowledged and clause 7 is respected.

4.4Contractors and consultants may use Licensed Content only where they are named Authorised Users and are bound by written confidentiality terms at least as strict as this policy.

5. Sharing Derived Outputs with Customers of the Licensee

5.1A Licensee holding a Multi User or Corporate licence may share Derived Outputs with its own customers, where the output is a summary, conclusion or insight written in the words of the Licensee or the AI Tool and is not a Substantial Extract. Single User licences do not include this right.

5.2Sharing is subject to the following limits:

  1. (a)no tables, charts, figures, forecast data series, or segment, country or company level data from the report;
  2. (b)no more than five data points from a single report in one deliverable, such as total market size, CAGR and the leading segment;
  3. (c)no passage of more than 100 consecutive words taken from the report;
  4. (d)no sharing of the full or substantially full text of the report, or of a summary that could replace it;
  5. (e)sharing is limited to customers of the Licensee, who may not pass the material on beyond their own organisation; and
  6. (f)no sale of Derived Outputs as a standalone product or data service.

5.3Every shared deliverable that uses a Derived Output must carry a visible source line in the following form:

“Source: Meticulous Research, [Report Title], [Year of publication]. Summary prepared with AI assistance and reviewed by [Licensee name].”

5.4The Meticulous Research name and logo may be used only in the source line. Nothing may state or suggest that the Company reviewed, approved or endorsed the deliverable.

5.5Sharing beyond these limits requires an AI Use Addendum under clause 8.

6. Mandatory Safeguards

10. Purchases through an Authorised Distributor

10.1The licence to the Licensed Content is granted by the Company, whichever channel is used to buy it. This policy applies in full to a Licensee that buys through an authorised Distributor, with the licence type shown on the order.

10.2A Distributor has no authority to grant, vary or waive any term of this policy. Any additional AI right requires an AI Use Addendum issued by the Company.

10.3A Licensee may request an AI Use Addendum through its Distributor or directly from the Company. The Distributor will refer the request to the Company, which alone decides it and quotes the fee.

10.4The Licensee should keep the order or invoice showing the report and licence type purchased, because its AI rights under this policy depend on the licence type.

11. General Terms

11.1Accuracy. AI Tools can misstate or omit facts. The Licensee is responsible for checking Derived Outputs against the report before relying on or sharing them. The Company is not liable for errors introduced by an AI Tool.

11.2Ownership. The Company retains all rights in Licensed Content. Derived Outputs remain subject to this policy to the extent they contain or reflect Licensed Content. No right is granted by implication.

11.3Personal and confidential data. Licensed Content is confidential and for the use of the Licensee only. The Licensee must not enter personal data of its own customers into a prompt together with Licensed Content unless its AI environment is approved for that data.

11.4Records and audit. The Licensee must keep a record of the AI Tools and environments used with Licensed Content and confirm compliance in writing within 15 business days of a reasonable request.

11.5Breach. On a breach, the Company may suspend access, require deletion of affected content, indexes and outputs, and terminate the licence without refund, in addition to any other remedy available.

11.6Order of precedence. This policy supplements the licence terms of each purchase. A signed agreement or AI Use Addendum prevails where it conflicts with this policy.

11.7Changes. The Company may update this policy for future purchases. The version in force at the date of purchase applies to that licence.

11.8Contact. Questions and addendum requests may be sent to the Company through the contact page at www.meticulousresearch.com, or through the Distributor from which the Licensed Content was bought, who will refer them to the Company. Governing law and jurisdiction follow the licence agreement.

12. Standard Clause for Licence Agreements

12.1The following clause may be inserted in any licence agreement, order form or quotation for Licensed Content:

“The Licensee may use the Licensed Content with generative AI tools solely within a private, access-controlled enterprise environment, for internal purposes, in accordance with the Meticulous Research AI Use Policy for Clients published at www.meticulousresearch.com. The Licensee shall not use the Licensed Content to train or fine tune any AI model, shall not process it in any public AI tool, and shall delete prompts, uploaded copies and outputs held in the AI tool within 30 days. Summaries and insights may be shared with the customers of the Licensee only within the limits and with the attribution set out in that policy. Any other AI use requires a written AI Use Addendum.”
